Light
Before we left, we saw her final companion.
Somehow, under the autumn dusk its errant, capricious wings,
casted explosions of saintly light upon her blood-drained face,
And we stood there, feeling mistaken as it mistakened her,
and wondered if she could still blink and gasp.
and hurt, and dream, and die.
I realized now she's been for three monthes
Since I saw her last- beneath the wings of her final lover
I realized her head was still raised beside the Sumida river, upon that rusty pike beside the well traveled road.
And today, like yesterday and the day before, is a very hot day with many flies.
